First time was a charm….

No Comments Blog, Comp Prep
OMG!!!! I did it! I popped my competition cherry!!! LOL This was an incredible experience, long but incredible. To see all the hard work my team, other competitors, and myself put in just to prepare for the 15 seconds of glory on that stage is amazing. Plenty of hours living in the gym, money invested in our bodies and FOOD, and the self discipline and will power it takes to become a bodybuilding athlete.
The days leading up to the show, I could not really pin point my feelings about what was going to happen on Saturday. There was a bit nervous and a lot of anxiety about the entire competition process. But once I was in the line up for Junior Figure Class A (Novice Figure)- Vee Bleu took over and I just had fun with it and didn’t worry about the outcome.
I did not place in the Top 5, but for me this was not about winning a trophy. This was about accomplishing a goal and more importantly establishing a healthy lifestyle for myself. Gracing the stage just was one of many milestones that will take place in my life. I am just blessed and grateful that I finally got to experience the “stage”  I been talking about over the last 10 years.
From a bodybuilding sport perspective there is room for improvement from a mental and physical body standpoint. From my personal non- sport life perspective – I am very pleased and happy with the person I am becoming. I have a love and appreciation for myself that was never there.
“Develop an attitude of gratitude, and give thanks for everything that happens to you, knowing that every step forward is a step toward achieving something bigger and better than your current situation.” ~ Brian Tracy

This experience just reconfirms that anything is possible if you want it bad enough.  I want to take this experience and build off the momentum.  Do more shows, accomplish other goals, and help others on their journey as well.
The cool thing about bodybuilding sport is that it does not matter how many times you get up on stage and what age you are doing the sport – at it will always be here. Unlike other sports there is no expiration. So my next show I will come to the stage with a stronger body and mind to match.
This is just the beginning…. the sky is the limit.
